Australian privacy law and visitor data — what the Privacy Act 1988 says
Australia's Privacy Act 1988 and its 13 Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) regulate how organisations collect, use, store and disclose personal information — including visitor data.
When a visitor signs into your premises, you collect personal data: their name, employer, who they visited and when. Under the APPs, this data must be:
